St. Maria Goretti Public School
St. Maria Goretti School named after our passionist saint St. Maria Goretti, located in Nettoor, Ernakulam started on June 2003. It is an educational enterprise of the passionist sisters a religious congregation founded by Maria Magdalena. We consider education is an integral formation of the human person for the fulfilment of social and individual responsibility. And also education helps the children to enable the way of thinking and their lifestyles.
OUR PATRON
St. Maria Goretti (October 16, 1890 – July 6, 1902) is an Italian virgin-martyr of the Catholic Church, and one of the youngest canonizedsaints[1] She was born to a farming family. Her father died when she was nine, and they had to share a house with another family, the Serenellis. Maria took over household duties while her mother, brothers, and sister worked in the fields.
One afternoon, Alessandro, the Serenellis’ son, made sexual advances to her. When she refused to submit to him, he stabbed her fourteen times. She was taken to the hospital but she died forgiving him. He was arrested, convicted, and jailed. During imprisonment he repented. After 27 years he was released from prison, and visited her mother to beg forgiveness, which she granted. He later became a lay brother in a monastery, dying peacefully in 1970. She was beatified in 1947, and canonized in 1950.

The school aim is to provide and train the students with an all around education. As well as form in them the habits of virtue, discipline and self efficiency and prepare them to be successful and happy in this highly competitive and challenging future global scenario. This school gives more important to co- curricular activities and extra- curricular activities by providing guidance and training in various activities organized by the school. The effective functioning of Science Club, Math’s Club, Nature Club, Arts and Sports Club etc…..ensure maximum participation according to their aptitude, skill and talent. The primary aim of the institution is to inspire and instill the right dream and the right values bring about an overall development in the child besides academic brilliance. Thus the school does help every student to realize his true potential.
The vision of the education is to build a strong younger generation and a well trained mind with good habits, purposeful and noble life to blossom into an integrated personality.
By 2020, the school will improve the reading habits of the students. Everyday school will provide 15 minutes to all the students to inculcate the habit of reading. The school will create awareness to utilize the library and the resources efficiently which are available in the school
